Welcome to Class 5’s page, where you will find our class news, lots of pictures of things we do and other bits and pieces too.
Dear Parents,
Happy New Year and welcome back to what is going to be an exciting term in Class 5.
As you are probably aware, the teaching in Class 5 will be shared between Mrs Roberts and Miss Spackman, with Mrs Curtis covering during teacher prepartion time. Mrs Roberts will be teaching on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Miss Spackman will be teaching the class on a Thursday and Friday, with Mrs Curtis teaching alternate Thursday afternoons.
During this term Class 5 will be swimming at Wantage Pool on a Tuesday morning, Mrs Curtis will be accompanying the class to swimming. Please ensure that your child has appropriate kit with them each Tuesday, goggles may be worn. Key Stage 2 games continues on Wednesdays, please ensure an outdoor PE kit is in school, including appropriate footwear.
Our focus for this term will be Ancient Egypt, the children are already excited and eager to find out more! Our Literacy, Art, DT, Geography, History and Science will be linked to the Egyptians to enable the children to engage fully in the topic, the focus for RE is The Bible and ICT will link to maths as spreadsheets including formulae.
Maths and Literacy homework will be issued on Wednesdays and is due in the following Tuesday. This term’s spellings should now have appeared at home on a bright yellow card, these will be tested on a Friday, and will also be posted on the class section of the School website https://www.harwellprimaryschool.co.uk/class-five/.
Daily reading at home is also expected, this may include: newspapers, magazines, poetry, instructions and information books as well as story/chapter books. Every child has been issued a reading target bookmark and each child will be responsible for ensuring they have their bookmark in school on a daily basis.
