The school day begins at 8.55 am. The pedestrian gates open at 8:45 am when staff are on duty at the gate (at which time the vehicular access gate to the school car park is closed and remains so until the end of the school day). During the continuing Covid19 period, the gates are opened at 8:45 and children go straight to their classroom via the external class door.
Initially, at the start of the school year, children in Foundation are taken directly into their classroom by parents or carers, through the FC playground door and are met by staff. Parents will be advised of the gradual transition to joining the rest of the school in the playground before the start of the school day. During the Covid19 period, children are met by a member of staff from the Foundation Class at the classroom gate.
We have a mid-morning break between 10.30 am and 10.50 am and a lunch-break between 12.00 pm and 1.00 pm.
Afternoon school ends at 3.15 pm and Activity Clubs normally end between 4.00 pm and 4:30 pm. During the Covid period, the school gates are opened at 3.10. Children in FC, Years 1 and 2 are collected from their classroom, Years 3 & 4 are collected from the car park entrance and Years 5 & 6 from the playground.
During the mid-morning break children are supervised in the playground by teachers and yeaching assistants. During the lunch hour they are looked after by mid-day supervisors and teaching assistants, under the direction of the headteacher.
School Lunches
School hot lunches – choices for the main meal are either made by parents in advance using parentpay OR by the children in class each morning.
Lunches are cooked in our own kitchen and served between 12.00 pm and 12.30 pm in the school hall. The cost of a school lunch is £2.35. Meals must be paid for in advance. Payment is by Parentpay for payment of meals and school trips. Please contact the school office if you need any help or information.
All children in Foundation Class and KS1 are entitled to free school meals as part of government initiatives. Older children whose parents receive certain benefits (such as income support or jobseekers’ allowance) may also be entitled to free school meals. We are happy to advise parents who think their children may be entitled to free meals.
See the latest School Lunches Menu. The menu is based on a three weekly cycle and always includes both meat and vegetarian options. Friday is a meat free day.
Packed lunches are also eaten in the school hall. The school provides a glass of water. If soft drinks are included in a packed lunch, these should not be sent in glass containers. Milk can be ordered for those having packed lunches via Cool Milk.
As part of our healthy eating campaign only fresh fruit or vegetables are to be eaten at breaktime. Please do not send crisps, sweets, chocolate bars etc. to school
Fruit is provided for all Foundation and KS1 children free of charge and milk for FC children under 5 years of age. Parents of children aged 5 and over can order milk via Cool Milk.
