Newsletter: Harwell After School Club
Term 5 2017/2018 – May 2018
Thank you to everyone who attended the Special General Meeting on 24th May. Despite our requirement to elect a new Chairperson to run the committee and After-School Club, no-one volunteered to assume this role. Accordingly, in line with the previous newsletter, the committee and parents voted to close the HASC. The club will run in its current format until the end of this academic year, at which point it will dissolve.
As a result of the closure of the ASC, the school have confirmed that they intend to launch their own after school club for the next academic year to continue the provision of childcare. In accordance with the HASC Constitution, the committee was required to agree how to dispose of its assets – toys and financial – and the attendees voted to donate these to the new after school club.
I would like to extend a special thanks to all the staff and committee members for their hard work.
If you have any questions, please contact me on firstname.lastname@example.org or speak with Michelle.
About us: Harwell After School Club is based within the school and is open to students from the school Little Pippins and surrounding areas aged 3-11 years old. We provide a happy, safe and relaxed environment for your children to play and socialise while they are with us. A snack tea and drinks are provided and the children are encouraged to be as independent as they are able.
Activities available to the children range from drawing, colouring and creating with junk modelling and lego to making use of the school field and playground and group games – the parachute is a firm favourite – and many, many other things!
We have strong links with the school and will work in conjunction with teachers, staff at Little Pippins and you the parent to support your child as much as possible.
For more information about us please have a look at after After-School-Club-Handbook
So we can get to know your child before they come to club, especially if they are new to the school we would like to ease the transition as much as we can. Please contact us on the details below to arrange a visit so your child knows whats going to happen when they get here and an opportunity for you all to meet the staff, show you where to collect from and for you to ask any questions you may have. Please contact us if you ever have any questions and we are always happy to help. To help us get to know your child please fill in All-about-me and return to school so we can make those first sessions as stress free as possible.

Safeguarding is our highest priority at After School Club, please note the following:
The children are not allowed to press the green door release button whilst at After School Club; please ensure that you do not allow your child to do this at home time.
Furthermore, please avoid letting other parents into the Club and instead allow the members of staff to unlock the door to let people in. This is best practise to avoid any safeguarding risks to the children, staff or anybody else that may be in the club at the time.
Times and prices
We are open Monday – Friday 3.15pm – 6.00pm.
Our prices are £11.00 for the first child and £9.50 for siblings.
Harwell After School Club accepts childcare vouchers as payment for childcare costs. As of Autumn 2015 the current system is changing to Tax free childcare: any families who will be claiming childcare costs for the first time will be using the new scheme, families who already use childcare vouchers will have the choice to stay with their current provider or change to the new Government scheme.
